In this wireless communication system, in a relay setting process, on the basis of the results of a search for a first secondary station that has received a confirmation message promoting a reply, the control unit of a parent station sets to a repeater a first secondary station that can communication with a second secondary station that cannot receive a confirmation message, determines whether or not communication is possible by comparing a secondary station threshold and the reception signal strength of the wireless signal from the second secondary station that the first secondary station receives, and determines whether or not communication is possible by comparing a parent station threshold and the reception signal strength of the received wireless signal from the first secondary station. The secondary station threshold is greater than a test threshold that is the baselines for determining whether or not communication is possible during a process other than the relay setting process, and the parent station threshold is smaller than the test threshold. |
