[Also in Group XXX] An inflatable annular bag 23 is carried by a drum 29 for engagement within a coil 11 of wire or cable to support the coil from a lifting eye 17 or 18 secured to the drum. In the form illustrated two lifting eyes 17, 18 permit the coil to be suspended in two alternative positions and are carried by tubular members 14, 15 through one, 14 of which passes the tube 24 by which the bag is inflated. The tube 24 terminates in a valve 20 similar to that employed in inflating automobile tyres and fitted with a venting valve 22. The inflatable bag 23 is formed with a wire bead 27 fitting within a channel 30 in the drum 29 which is welded to an end plate 28 welded to the tube 15 and is connected by screws 32 to a flange 33 also welded to the tube 15. |
