According to an embodiment, disclosed is an MRI device which comprises: an image generating unit configured to generate an MR image showing the brain of a target object; and a region determining unit configured to determine a first cerebellum candidate region including a brainstem in an MR image, determine a brainstem region in correspondence to the MR image by using a brain template image in which the brainstem is determined, and determine a cerebellum region in the MR image by eliminating the determined brain stem region from the first cerebellum candidate region.
