1. A method for determining a phase position of an adjustable camshaft of an internal combustion engine having a sensor wheel and a camshaft adjuster, the method comprising:
determining a first phase position of the camshaft in relation to a crankshaft based on a phase flank interrupt triggered by the sensor wheel, wherein the phase flank interrupt is triggered at a first time point; extrapolating a second phase position of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft from the first phase position, based on a model which depends on at least one performance characteristic of the camshaft adjuster, wherein the second phase position corresponds to a second time point after the first time point, and wherein the camshaft is synchronized to the crankshaft based on the extrapolated second phase position. |
