The present invention relates to a jelly roll type electrode assembly of a secondary battery capable of preventing physical damage of a cathode. In addition, the jelly roll type electrode assembly of a secondary battery comprises: an anode having an active material coated in both surfaces; a cathode having the active material coated in both surfaces, and having a blank unit of which a part of a surface facing the anode does not have the active material coated thereon; and a protective member provided on the blank unit to prevent a direct contact between the anode and the blank unit.
