摘要 The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, and a manufacturing method thereof. The positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery includes: a core including a primary particle compound in the shape of a flake; and a first coating layer located on the core and has a NiO phase. The positive electrode active material is the positive electrode active material in the form of a secondary particle, and the primary particle has a particle size of 100 nm to 3 &mu;m. The positive electrode active material in the form of the secondary particle is represented by a chemical formula 1 below. The chemical formula 1 is (1-x-y)Li_2MnO_(3-x)LiM^1O_2, wherein 0<x<1, 0<y<1, and M^1 is a transition metal.
