[Also in Group XVII] A corpse container which is formed from synthetic plastic sheet material which is impervious to fluids, has an opening which is closed through sliding interengaging edges of synthetic plastic material. The container may be in the form of a bag closed at its end by a sliding fastener, or may consist of two flat sheets of material, one of which may be transparent, welded together along one edge, and the remaining edges being closed by sliding fasteners. The container may be shaped to fit in a coffin or to follow the shape of a corpse, and may be made of thin material on a supporting frame. Substances absorbing moisture, retarding or preventing putrefaction and the formation of gases, or having a mummifying effect, may be enclosed within the container. Examples of suitable sliding fasteners are given, Figs. 4 to 7 (not shown) which may be so arranged that closure flaps are provided which are finally sealed by welding &c. to ensure that the container is gas-tight.</p> |
