发明名称 Improvements in or relating to heat exchangers
摘要 756,327. Heat-exchangers. SOC. LE CARBONE-LORRAINE, and HILLIARD, A. Oct. 1, 1953 [Oct. 14, 1952; May 13, 1953], Nos. 25740/52 and 13355/53. Class 64(3). Relates to heat exchangers comprising at least two blocks of material each having two series of holes formed therein for two heat exchange means respectively at least one of which means is a fluid, mutually adjacent faces of each adjacent pair of blocks being separated by a space (e.g. a header) with which one set of passages of each block communicate for the passage of a fluid through these latter passages and through said space. According to the invention, for each said block, the length of each hole of at least one of the series is between one and a half and fifteen times the diameter of the hole. The blocks are preferably of graphite, carbon, monel metal or silicon carbide. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement utilizing cylindrical blocks of the form shown in Fig. 2, each having a series of holes 12 extending axially between recesses 14 at each end of the block and a second series of holes 13 extending tangentially as shown or radially. Adjacent recesses 14 of contiguous blocks constitute the spaces or headers 21 by which one of the heat exchange media passes from one block to another. Theseries of blocks is surrounded by a casing made in sections 22 which may have a corrosion resistant lining 180 if necessary. The casing is spaced from the outer periphery of the blocks and baffles 50, 23 are positioned as shown so that a fluid entering at 47 flows through the holes 13 of the lowermost block to the space 51 between the block periphery and the casing and then in turn through the holes 13 of each block by way of further spaces 51 interconnecting the holes 13 of adjacent blocks to the outlet 55. The other fluid is introduced through inlet connections 34, 35 and flows through the holes 12 which may be staggered in adjacent blocks, to outlet connections 44, 45. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement utilizing rectangular blocks of the form shown in Fig. 4, which may be arranged in one or more columns, Fig. 5, showing two such columns. One of the heat exchanging fluids passes through the holes 65 which also may be staggered in adjacent blocks, and the other fluid passes through holes 66. In this arrangement recesses in mutually adjacent faces of the blocks constitute header spaces 59, 74 interconnecting one or other of the series of holes in one block with the holes of the same series in the next block, further header spaces 61 being constituted by casing members 63. Either or both of the fluids may be driven through the apparatus by an impeller or impellers. The two sets of fluid passages may extend in the same direction through the blocks. It is stated that one set of passages may contain heating elements instead of a fluid. Specifications 285,151 [Class 64(iii)], 391,817, 665,899, 736,305 and 756,420 are referred to. Specification 739,906 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
