The present invention relates to a mobile terminal controlling the operation of electronic devices included in a home automation system, and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal according to an embodiment includes: a display unit outputting screen information including one or more graphic objects respectively corresponding to the electronic devices included in the home automation system; a control unit receiving one or more of the graphic objects selected based on a first user input applied onto the screen information, and setting a control command related to the operation of an electronic device corresponding to the selected graphic object based on a second user input applied onto the screen information; and a communication unit transmitting a control signal related to the set control command to the electronic device corresponding to the selected graphic object.
