摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optic chemical sensor which can be made compact and which can simplify a detection work, and which can detect a chemical substance with high sensitivity.SOLUTION: An optic chemical sensor comprises at least: a light source; a polarizer; a detection element composed of a laminate 13 including a ferromagnetic metallic layer 14, a dielectric body light interference layer, and a metallic reflective layer; a magnetic field application mechanism; and a light detector. Light from the light source is radiated to the laminate 13 on a condition that a magnetic optic signal is enhanced by multiple reflection generated on the laminate, then magnetization of the laminate 13 is controlled by the magnetic field application mechanism, and thereby the light detector detects the magnetic optic signal which is a change of the reflected light from the laminate 13. Therefore, without requiring an optic component such as a prism, light from the light source can be radiated to a detection surface from various directions. The optic chemical sensor is compact and inexpensive, and facilitates a detection work with high sensitivity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
