PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that employs an IPS method and can improve an opening ratio, and a manufacturing method of the same.SOLUTION: A plurality of wall-like structures 14 and a flattened layer 19 are integrally formed of an insulating material; a pixel electrode 20 is formed on each of wall surfaces of the pair of wall-like structures 14 that hold each of pixels; a plane part 20b of the pixel electrode 20 arranged on the flattened layer 19 is opposite to a common wiring 26 with the flattened layer 19 therebetween, so as to form a storage capacitance caused by the presence of the flattened layer 19 between the pixel electrode 20 and common wiring 26; a first common electrode 18 and the common wiring 26 are integrally formed of a transparent conductive layer in the same layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
