The present invention relates to a high-carbon steel wire rod having excellent mechanical delamination properties, and to a manufacturing method thereof. An embodiment of the present invention is formed with a scale on a surface, comprising: 0.7-1.1 wt% of C; 0.1-0.7 wt% of Si; 0.2-1.0 wt% of Mn; 0.1-0.5 wt% of Cr; less than or equal to 0.01 wt% of N; less than or equal to 0.03 wt% of P; less than or equal to 0.03 wt% of S; and the remaining consisting of Fe and other unavoidable impurities. The scale includes 60-85 wt% of FeO for a ratio of surface integrals. |
