PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device and the like which can automatically detect an obstacle with respect to railway equipment such as an overhead power line and a rail during traveling of a railway vehicle by using image processing.SOLUTION: An obstacle detection device comprises: a difference calculation part which calculates the difference between observation image data and background image data and detects the foreground region where the degree of difference between the pixel values of the observation image data and the background image data is large; a track detection processing part which extracts the image of a rail on which a railway vehicle travels by performing track detection processing on the observation image data in which the foreground region is detected by the difference calculation part and obtains the position of the track shaft; and a determination part which determines whether or not the position in the foreground region exists in the construction gauge by obtaining the position or track of the point in the foreground region with respect to the track shaft on the basis of the position of the point in the foreground region detected for the plural frames of observation image data generated at the plural time points.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
