PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pressure management of cooling passages within turbine buckets employed in gas turbine engines.SOLUTION: A turbine bucket comprises: a leading edge; a trailing edge; a root portion; a tip portion; at least one cooling passage extending through a body of the turbine bucket, where the at least one cooling passage includes an inlet and an outlet and is configured to route a cooling flow of fluid through the turbine bucket; and a plenum defined within the tip portion. The plenum is in direct fluid communication with the outlet of the at least one cooling passage, for expulsion of the cooling flow of fluid into the plenum. The plenum comprises at least one outlet hole proximate to the trailing edge of the turbine bucket.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
