PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining a plant-derived carbon precursor in which the contents of metallic elements or nonmetallic elements are sufficiently reduced.SOLUTION: By mutually rubbing carbon precursors, fibrous parts are removed from the plant-derived carbon precursors, and the contents of metallic elements in the carbon precursors are reduced. Next, by immersing the carbon precursors into an organic acid aqueous solution, the contents of the metallic elements and/or nonmetallic elements in the carbon precursor are reduced.
