The invention relates to a method for operating a system comprising a control valve (1) having electromagnetic actuation controlled by a control unit (15), the control valve comprising an electromagnet (3), which at least has a coil (4) and an armature (5) and which interacts with a valve (8) that determines a medium metering, wherein an opening motion of the valve (8) is set by the electromagnet (3) and a closing motion is set by a control valve spring (11). According to the invention, a method for operating such a system is specified, in the case of which method the closing process of the valve (8) is improved by increasing the durability of the control valve (1). This is achieved by means of a magnetic force control device (16), which slows the closing motion of the valve (8) immediately before a valve plate (7) hits a valve seat (9).
