[Problem] To provide a current detection device that can suppress the effects of external magnetic fields and of magnetic fields from current flowing in other current paths, and to provide a current detection method. [Solution] The present invention is provided with a plurality of current paths (1, 2, 3) that are installed in parallel and with current detection units (10/10') that are provided to each of the current paths (1, 2, 3), each current detection unit (10/10') having a first magnetism detection element (11) and a second magnetism detection element (12) that detect the intensity of the magnetic field that is generated by the current flowing in the corresponding current path. The first magnetism detection element (11) and the second magnetism detection element (12) are arranged such that the direction of the magnetic sensitive axis thereof is the direction in which the plurality of current paths (1, 2, 3) are parallel and such that the direction of the insensitive axis thereof is perpendicular to the direction in which the plurality of current paths (1, 2, 3) are parallel and is also perpendicular to the direction of the passage of current through the corresponding current path (1). In addition, the first magnetism detection element (11) and the second magnetism detection element (12) are arranged in positions at which the intensity of the magnetic field is different. The same is true for the other current paths (2, 3).
