PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to determine whether to be a character to be separated from a background by binarization.SOLUTION: The image processing system input image generates a binary image of an input image, and obtains a character area in the binary image and an area enclosing each character as character cut rectangle information, obtains a thinned image by performing thinning processing with respect to an area in the binary image identified on the basis of the character cut rectangle information, obtains an edge detection image of the area identified on the basis of the character cut rectangle information, and determines whether each character identified on the basis of the character cut rectangle information is a character to be separated from a background by binarization on the basis of the outcome of calculating a logical product of the thinned image and the edge detection image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
