PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplification apparatus capable of extending an optical transmission distance by amplifying a 10G-ONU and a GE-ONU at a dual rate.SOLUTION: An optical amplification apparatus includes: an optical amplifier 11 that amplifies a burst signal having a plurality of wavelength sections; a demultiplexer 12 wich demultiplexes the burst signal amplified by the optical amplifier 11 for each section; an optical switch 13 which turns on and turns off the burst signal demultiplexed by the demultiplexer 12 for each wavelength section; a multiplexer 14 which multiplexes an optical signal that is turned on and turned off by the optical switch 13; a detection part 15 for detecting the wavelength section and a strength of the burst signal multiplexed by the multiplexer 14; and a controller 16 which turns on the optical switch 13 for the wavelength section that is detected by the detection part 15, and turns off the optical switch 13 for the wavelength section that is not detected by the detection part 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
