A vacuum cleaner (1) comprising a dirty air intake (2)and a cyclonic separating apparatus (3) connected in series. The cyclonic separating apparatus (3) comprises a plurality of cyclonic separators (7) connected in parallel. The vacuum cleaner (1) further comprises a bleed valve (6) provided upstream of the plurality of cyclonic separators (7). The bleed valve(6)opens to admit bled air into the plurality of cyclonic separators (7) in response to a drop in pressure in the vacuum cleaner (1). The bleed valve (6) is also connected to the inlets of the plurality of cyclonic separators (7) via a common plenum (8). |
