In an automatic splicing device, the distance (separation distance) between a taping component 20 and a distance sensor 54, 56 is detected by the distance sensor 54, 56, and, on the basis of the detected distance, it is determined whether an electronic component 24 is accommodated within an accommodation recess 28 of the taping component. When it cannot be determined whether the electronic component is accommodated within the accommodation recess, it is re-determined, using the detection sensor, whether the electronic component is accommodated within the accommodation recess. Thus, by repeatedly determining whether the electronic component is accommodated within the accommodation recess, it is possible to suitably determine whether the electronic component is accommodated within the accommodation recess. |
