PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to calculate the coverage of a single layer part in a mixed color image, and improve the coverage of a toner in the single layer part to extend a color reproduction range.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus estimates, from chromaticity values measured in a single color solid image and a mixed color solid image (L*a*b* value), a chromaticity value of a mixed color halftone image when fixation is ideally performed (L*a*b* value) in the gradation of a mixed color image, and stores the chromaticity value; outputs a mixed color image for evaluation and compares the estimated chromaticity value with a chromaticity value of the image for evaluation; when the difference between the chromaticity values is equal to or larger than a certain value, calculates the coverage of a single layer part (monochromatic part) of the mixed color image for evaluation; when the coverage is equal to or smaller than a certain value, controls the application of heat and pressure to a fixing part to improve the coverage during image formation and extend a color reproduction range; and corrects fixing conditions so that the coverage of a toner in the single layer part in a specific image pattern can be appropriately improved, so as to suppress a reduction of the color reproduction range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
