PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for efficiently deriving uplink channel estimates without consuming much special uplink resources.SOLUTION: User equipment (UE) is configured to: determine a set of subcarriers for a signaling channel 612; send a request for uplink resources on a request channel (REQCH) 614; send pilots on pilot subcarriers and REQCH data on data subcarriers from multiple antennas; and receive an assignment of time frequency resources for uplink transmission, in response to the request. The assignment is selected based, at least in part, on the pilot symbols sent by the UE and other pilot symbols sent by at least one other apparatus.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
