PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber in which friction force acting between a piston and a cylinder is varied in accordance with variation in a movement amount or movement speed of a piston.SOLUTION: A shock absorber includes a cylinder 3 storing liquid (working fluid), a piston part 4 arranged in the cylinder, and a rod 5 retaining the piston part. The piston part 4 includes a piston base body 40, a main piston 41 provided on an outer peripheral surface on the other end side of the piston base body 40, a groove (follower piston installation part 43) provided on an outer peripheral surface on one end side of the piston base body and extending in a direction along a center axis of the cylinder, and a follower piston 42 arranged in the groove in such a manner of being movable in the groove to the direction along the center axis of the cylinder so that maximum static friction force acting between the follower piston and an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder is larger than maximum static friction force acting between the main piston and the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
