Ice hockey sticks are generally manufactured in two parts (the head and the shaft) which are then bonded together. This process requires extensive post-moulding operations: machining, grinding and/or sanding, and painting and/or coating to disguise poor surface finish. In addition, a stiffened region is present at the join between the head and the shaft which reduces feel and responsiveness of such sticks. The present invention seeks to overcome these problems by providing a method of manufacturing a complete one-piece hockey stick 20, in which composite material extends substantially continuously across the head 60 and shaft 70 portions. |
