PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide contact lenses that incorporate power profiles that minimize visual acuity variation in myopia progressors on the basis of minimization of variation of neural sharpness image quality over a specific time period.SOLUTION: A contact lens 700 includes a lens having a center 706 and at least one peripheral zone 708 surrounding the center and having a different refractive power than the center. The lens has a power profile selected from the group consisting of a power profile with spherical aberration, a multifocal power profile, a free-form power profile, and a segmented free-form power profile. The power profile is based on an initial paraxial power of a myopia progressor and a determined myopia progression rate over a specific time period, resulting in controlled change of neural sharpness, thereby minimizing changes in visual acuity at a beginning of the time period and at an end of the time period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
