The invention relates to a slug and snail repellent containing a solid inorganic component A, wherein the component A can be hardened by adding water and is selected from not totally hydrated gypsum CaSO4 x m H2O, wherein 0 < m < 2, a mixture of CaO and Ca(OH)2, cement and combinations of said materials and an aqueous component B which is separate therefrom, the aqueous component B contains water and at least one anionic and/or a neutral surfactant. The invention further relates to a slug and snail fence.
