The present invention relates to a system for reducing methane comprising: a lower chamber where gas is introduced; an upper chamber which is formed in an opened top and an opened bottom shape, and where the gas is introduced from the lower chamber by being connected to an upper portion of the lower chamber; a cover which seals an opened upper portion of the upper chamber; a porous plate interposed between the lower chamber and the upper chamber; and a soil unit which is filled inside the upper chamber in order to cover an upper portion of the porous plate, and consists of earth and sand growing methane oxidizing microorganism. The present invention can efficiently remove methane gas generated from a landfill by controlling growth conditions of bacteria removing the methane gas.
