Aspects of the present disclosure aim at providing three orthogonal waveforms that can be used for transmitting 3n bits (n bits from each waveform) at a given frequency. Such three orthogonal waveforms can be used in applications such as QAM to create a 3-dimensional QAM, along with use in other like applications such as in Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK), among others. In an aspect, a method of the present disclosure includes a step of generating three orthogonal waveforms as cos(θ)+k, cos(θ+2π/3)+k, and cos(θ+4π/3)+k, where k is the DC component and can have a value of 0.5 volts, and θ=2πft with f being the (baseband or passband) frequency=1/T, with T being Time Period, and t being time. Cosine waveforms can be equivalently replaced by sine waveform separated by 120 degrees. |
