The invention relates to a machine (1) comprising an excavation device (7) for receiving a ballast (2) of a track, consisting of a continuous excavation chain (6), which is guided in a chain channel (11) on a rotation plane. Said chain is provided with a plurality of finger-shaped, protruding conveying shovels comprising loosening elements. Said chain channels (11) consist of a lower clearing channel, arranged in a ballast bed when in operation, an ascending transport channel comprising a discharge end (16) and a descending emptying channel. When the excavation device (7) is in operation, the lower clearing channel is arranged behind the discharge end (16) with respect to the working direction (8) of the machine (1). The loosening elements are aligned radially inwards in a deviation section of the excavation chain (6) from the clearing channel to the transport channel. |
