Polymers, and methods for their production

The present application relates to methods of producing poly(carborane-co-siloxane) polymers, and to polymers produced by such methods. The methods involve reacting a siloxane compound having at least two Si-OR° bonds with an organohydrosiloxane compound having at least two Si-H bonds in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst containing boron, wherein the siloxane and/or organohydrosiloxane comprise a divalent carboranyl group. The Lewis acid may be tris (pentafluorophenyl) borane.
