[Class 81 (ii)] Dust-inhaling apparatus, particularly apparatus for inhaling lime dust, wherein lime or other dust-generating material is stirred by revolving rigid paddles which allow the material to fall at the top of their path, is characterized in that an air-stream, arranged to.convey the dust particles, is passed above the chamber containmg the paddles and out of the path of the paddles themselves whereby only the finest, particles are entrained. As shown, air is drawn by a fan 38, Fig. 3, through an annular perforated screen 31, and over an electric heating coil 41, and supplied to a chamber 7 through a grid 51. Revolving paddles 24 in the lower part of the chamber out of the path of the air lift lime contained in a semicylindrical removable base 9, and allow it to fall at the top of their path. The lime-laden air passes through a variable number of reticulated screens 65 to a mouthpiece 67, Fig. 4, fitted over a flange 66. The parts of the apparatus are contained in a casing 1 having hinged lids 5, 6, and a central transverse partition 3. The paddle shaft 16 and the fan-shaft 29 are driven through belts 60, 58, from an electric motor 53, housed in an upper compartment and controlled by a rheostat on the outside of the casing. The heating coil 41 is wound upon a cruciform former and is connected with a rheostat coil 43 controlled by an external switch. The grid 51 comprises horizontal partitions bent upwardly as shown to prevent the passage of lime dust into the fan chamber. The chamber 7 has a filling hole closed by a screw-held plug 68. |
