Disclosed is a liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus. The LCD apparatus includes a first substrate (100) and a second substrate (200), each including a display area and a non-display area, a sealant (300) disposed between the non-display area of the first substrate (100) and the non-display area of the second substrate (200), and a first contact area (125) and a light shielding pattern (120) that are disposed in the non-display area of the first substrate (100). The light shielding pattern (120) is disposed on one outermost side of the first substrate (100), the first contact area (125) is disposed between the light shielding pattern (120) and the display area, and the sealant (300) contacts the first substrate (100) in the first contact area (125).
