The aim of the invention is to detect contact faults on an electric machine (2), which is supplied by a converter (4). This is achieved in that a first (V1) and (one) second voltage (V2), which is raised relative to the first voltage, are applied in a chronologically sequential manner using the converter (4), and the corresponding machine currents (i1, i2) caused thereby are measured. A value for the resistance (r) is ascertained from the quotient of the difference (&Dgr;&ngr;) of the two voltages divided by the difference (&Dgr;i) of the two currents. |
