An amphibious vehicle 10 comprises a planing hull 40, at least one retractable wheel 50 to 53, at least one prime mover for providing power to drive the vehicle and at least one steerable wheel 50 and 53 which is, at least when the vehicle is operated on land, connected directly or indirectly to a steering control device 62 operable by a driver to steer the vehicle. In addition the present invention provides that the steering control device is moveable between at least two distinct laterally spaced positions across the width or beam of the vehicle. In other embodiments of the invention the vehicle comprises side-by-side seating 150, a roll bar or roll cage 20, an open cargo area, two seat belt buckle positions, and three seat belts, a footwell area 80 having no transmission tunnel and a footwell and seating area configured so as to ease user access. |
