Improvements relating to the washing and after-treatment of threads of regenerated cellulose

Washing or after-treatment of regenerated cellulose threads is effected by leading the threads over rollers downwardly in a path inclined to the vertical and parallel to an inclined guide-plate down which the washing or treating liquid flows. As shown in Fig. 1, threads T are guided over rollers 1, 2 and are maintained in position by comb-guides 6. The threads in their downward travel move parallel and adjacent to inclined guide-plates 3 down which washing or treating liquid flows from the supply pipe 4 having a longitudinal slot 5. In a modification, Fig. 3, the supply pipe may be replaced by an open trough 7 which overflows on to the guide-plate 3; if desired, a second trough 8 may be provided half-way down the guide plate, which overflows through a series of horizontally disposed slots 9. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the bottom roller is in the form of a blade wheel 10 which is driven by the descending liquid and maintains the threads under tension.
