Anaerobic curable compositions, such as adhesives and sealants, are provided, which include compounds shown in structure I where X is optional, but when present, X is halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, hydroxyalkenyl, alkoxy, amino, alkylene- or alkenylene-ether, alkylene (meth)acrylate, carbonyl, carboxyl, nitroso, sulfonate, hydroxyl, haloalkyl or a fused aromatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic ring, Y is 0, NH or CHR, where R is H or C1-4 alkyl, and n is 0 or 1, such as 3-indazolinone, dihydro-3-cinnolinone. The anaerobic curable compositions, comprise a (meth) acrylate, an anaerobic cure-inducing component, such as a hydroperoxide, e.g. cumene peroxide, para-menthane hydroperoxide, t-butyl hydroperoxide, benzoyl peroxide, and the compound of structure I, such as 3-indazolinone, dihydro-3-cinnolinone. Also disclosed is a method of using the compound of structure I, such as 3-indazolinone, dihydro-3-cinnolinone in the anaerobic curable compositions. |
