The present invention relates to bituminous binder compositions suitable for use and application at lower temperatures, and more particularly to a method of preparing a curable bituminous binder composition comprising a bitumen material, a saponifiable organic fatty acid, and an inorganic metal compound capable of reacting with the organic fatty acid to form a metal soap, and a method of preparing an asphalt layer on a surface, especially a road. The invention also relates to a curable bituminous binder composition obtainable by means of the method, and a surface layer comprising a cured bituminous binder composition obtainable with the method. |
