[Also in Groups XXIV, XXXI and XXXII] The invention relates to a walk-type tractor (see Group XXXI) having a mowing attachment carried by a bearer member, Fig. 10, which is bolted to the front and base of the change speed gear box. A plate 72 bolted to the underneath of the change speed gear box carries rods 70 connected at their other ends to a plate 71. The latter carries bosses 73 which are connected by a pin 75 to a projecting portion 74 of the gear box. The mowing attachment comprises a channel shape member 68, Fig. 7, having an end flange 69 adapted to be bolted to the plate 71. A fixed blade assembly 67 is supported by a resilient mounting 80 from the member 68. The moving blade assembly 81 is carried by an oscillating arm 84 pivotally mounted at 85 to the member 68. The other end of the arm 84 carries a socket 86 which engages a radial arm 66 carried by a shaft 65 projecting from the front of the change speed gear box. Oscillating motion is adapted to be imparted to the shaft 65 by suitable power take-off mechanism within the gear box. A suitable control lever is mounted outside the gear box. Stops 82, Fig. 8, limit movement of the blade in a vertical transverse plane. In a modified construction, Fig. 11, the member 68 is replaced by a member 91 which extends laterally of the tractor. The fixed cutter assembly 67 is carried by an arm 67a which is pivotally mounted at 93 to the member 91. The moving cutter assembly 81 is connected by a ball joint 97 and link 96 to the arm 66 of the shaft 65. The blade assembly may be swung about the pivot 93, so that it is clear of the ground when the tractor is travelling on a road.
