PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source used for heterodyne detection having a characteristic requested as a heterodyne detection light source, with a simple device.SOLUTION: A light source system for heterodyne detection includes a light source 11 and a light modulator 12 for generating two-tone light corresponding to light entering from the light source 11 and a modulation signal. The light modulator 12 includes a Mach-Zehnder waveguide 14. The two-tone light output from the light modulator 12 is an f+nf(n is integral number; for example, n=1, 2 or 3) when setting a frequency of the light entering from the light source 11 as an fand setting a frequency of the modulation signal as an f. Then, intensity of a fcomponent output from the light modulator 12 becomes lower than intensity of a f±nfcomponent by 20 dB or more. Driving of the light modulator under such conditions results in lowering of carrier components and acquisition of a two-tone signal having uniform intensity. |
