A compressor comprising a housing, an impeller and an annular diffuser passage. The diffuser passage extends from a diffuser inlet to a diffuser outlet, the impeller hub being mounted in an annular impeller recess in a first wall member of the diffuser, wherein an annular diffuser recess is provided in the first wall member, the diffuser recess extending radially outwardly from a first end to a second end, the first end being located at a radially outer end of the impeller recess, the second end being located axially inboard of the first end of the diffuser recess. The diffuser recess ensures that the hub of the impeller is located axially inline or inboard of the first surface of the diffuser passage even allowing for variations in the manufacturing process. This ensures no tripping off at the outer edge of the impeller due to the hub being axially outboard of the first surface of the diffuser passage. |
