CATHODE ACTIVE MATERIAL AND LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY COMPRISING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a cathode active material and a lithium secondary battery including the same. The cathode active material includes: a lithium nickel active material; and a lithium nickel manganese active material, wherein an average particle diameter (D_50) of the lithium nickel active material is larger than that of the lithium nickel manganese active material; and a nickel content of the lithium nickel active material is higher than that of the lithium nickel manganese active material. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the cathode active material includes two kinds of active materials which have different nickel contents and average particle diameters, thereby improving electrode density and energy density. In addition, the cathode active material can increase safety and stability of the lithium secondary battery at the same time by using the high capacitance lithium nickel active materials.
