The present invention relates to a composition for selectively detecting mercury ions and a portable sensor comprising the same for detecting mercury ions. The portable sensor for detecting mercury ions, according to the present invention, can be introduced to paper or clothing and thus whether a working environment in rivers, drinking water, and factories is exposed to mercury ions or not can be visually, rapidly, and easily identified. The composition for selectively detecting mercury ions comprises a compound represented by chemical formula A or chemical formula B.
