1. A tomato plant grown from a transgenic tomato plant cell transformed with a vector comprising:
a DNA molecule encoding a tomato O-methyltransferase (OMT), wherein the DNA molecule encodes a peptide having at least 90% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 3, wherein the OMT catalyzes production of guaiacol; and at least one regulatory sequence operatively linked to the DNA molecule such that the OMT is expressed in the transgenic plant cells. |
