An overcharge protection apparatus including a diagnostic function according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: a mechanical overcharge protection apparatus connected between a relay driving coil and a ground of a main relay, and disconnecting a connection between the relay driving coil and the ground when a degree of expansion of a battery is equal to or higher than a predetermined value; and a control unit diagnosing whether the overcharge protection apparatus is operated and whether the failure occurs, by detecting voltage between both ends of the mechanical overcharge protection apparatus. The overcharge protection apparatus may correctly diagnose the operation or the failure of the mechanical overcharge protection apparatus, check that the mechanical overcharge protection apparatus can′t be normally operated due to a defect or the failure of the overcharge protection apparatus in advance, and secure fail safety associated with the overcharge protection apparatus, thereby safety can be improved. |
