Adapter and syringe for front-loading medical fluid injector

Various structures are used in a front-loading injector, for mounting the syringe to the injector and/or preventing leakage of spilled fluid from an external surface of a syringe into the vicinity of the drive ram. A conically-shaped structure on the rearward end of the syringe is specifically disclosed.

1. An injector assembly, comprising:
an injector comprising a housing having an opening defined therein, a motor drive, and a drive ram coupled to said motor drive and extendible from the housing through the opening; and a syringe having a body with a cylindrical interior wall, a closed forward end with a discharge opening therein, and an open rearward end, a plunger mounted within the body in sealing contact with the cylindrical interior wall of the body, and an outwardly-extending structure on an external surface of the body, the structure extending radially outward and tapering axially toward the rearward end of the body, the syringe mountable to the housing at the opening.
