The present invention relates to a Lactobacillus sp. microorganism inhibiting the growth of methanogenic bacteria and, more specifically, to a Lactobacillus sp. HR22 strain (KCTC 12725BP) having the growth inhibitory ability of methanogenic bacteria inside ruminant stomach in the cattle, and to a composition for inhibiting the growth of methanogenic bacteria or methane generation, which comprises the same as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the Lactobacillus sp. HR22 strain is separated from ruminant stomach of Korean native cattle, is harmless and safe to humans and animals in comparison with inhibiting methane generation by using a chemical method. A fundamental cause of the methane generation is reduced by inhibiting the growth of the methanogenic bacteria, thereby having a very large effective value, and being able to be applied to a variety of methane reduction techniques. |
