The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling power in an offshore plant wherein a vessel monitoring and control system (VMS) calculates a power limit to transmit the power limit to an entire drilling control system (DCS) control unit. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for controlling power in an offshore plant comprises: a VMS to use an amount of current generation power and an amount of current consumption power of the offshore plant to calculate power limits for a plurality of motors of drilling equipment; an entire DCS control unit to receive the power limits for the motors from the VMS to transmit the power limits to a drilling equipment controller; and the drilling equipment controller to receive the power limits for the motors from the entire DCS control unit to perform power limitation according to the received power limits. The entire DCS control unit performs power limitation according to the power limits for the motors received from the VMS if the drilling equipment does not operate normally.
