The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling power in an offshore plant, and more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for controlling power in an offshore plant wherein a vessel monitoring and control system (VMS) considers a number of operating motors to calculate a power limit to transmit the power limit to a drilling control system (DCS). According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for controlling power in an offshore plant comprises: a VMS to use an amount of current generation power of the offshore plant and an amount of current consumption power to calculate power limits for a plurality of motors of drilling equipment; and a drilling equipment controller to receive the power limits for the motors of the drilling equipment from the VMS, and receive a command for the drilling equipment from a worker to transmit a power limit signal according to the received power limits and the inputted command to a variable frequency drive (VFD). The VMS comprises: a power management module to use the amount of the current generation power and the amount of the current consumption power to calculate a usable amount of power; and a power limit calculation module to use a value obtained by dividing the usable amount of power by a number of operating motors among the motors to calculate the power limits for the motors. |
