PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light modulator capable of suppressing degradation in the transmission characteristic of an electric signal.SOLUTION: The light modulator includes: a relay substrate; a first transmission path disposed on a flat surface of the relay substrate and transmits an externally input electric signal input along the flat surface of the relay substrate; a second transmission path that is disposed on the relay substrate and transmits an electric signal in a direction different from the flat surface; a modulation unit that modulates a light signal by the electric signal transmitted through the first transmission path and the second transmission path; and a shield that blocks a radiation component of the electric signal emitting from a junction between the first transmission path and the second transmission path.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
